About

My name is Hugo Röhlcke, and I am a musician and composer from Stockholm with experience in film, music production, and live music. My path in music began with the guitar and discovering the joy of playing with others. The ability music has to express and communicate emotions quickly made it a passion for me, and I have played with various bands across different genres. Now, creating and experimenting with sound has taken more of my focus, and I am currently studying music production at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Alongside music, I have always had a strong interest in film and visual media, especially in how sound can interact and enhance the visual elements. Therefore, in addition to my music, I have also studied film production and have experience working in the film industry, as a cinematographer and AC.
Writing film music has become a natural combination of my two passions. For me, composing film music is about experimenting and exploring sonic tools to capture the emotions that the film aims to convey. Beyond melody and harmony, there is also immense power in sound selection and timbre, which is something I find exciting to explore. I believe that my experiences behind the camera can provide insight into visual storytelling and offer an additional tool and versatility as a composer.
